Memoir Writing for the Generations — Davis Library

Memoir Writing for the Generations with Sarah Birnbach (Session 2)

Do you want to be remembered for the valuables you leave behind or for the values you treasure…for the things you have accumulated or for the gifts of the heart, mind and spirit that you possessed?

Life story writing leaves a legacy of living history for you to share with your children and future generations.

In this experiential (learning by doing) workshop, you will work to clarify and communicate the meaning of your life so that future generations will know and understand the experiences you have lived and the values you held.  Each session will help you put these gifts on paper so that what you value most is “on the record” – not to be lost or forgotten.

This 3-session course will be led by Sara Birnbach, author of the award-winning memoir, “A Daughter's Kaddish: My Year of Grief, Devotion, and Healing,” that was informed from journal entries in the year after her father died. She is also a 5-time award winner of the Soul-Making Keats Literary Competition and a 2-time award winner in Bethesda Magazine's essay contest.  Her stories have been published in numerous magazines and professional journals.

Join with like-minded neighbors (maximum of 20; course cost of $20) to create a personal legacy beyond your worldly possessions!
