Asset Distribution: Fast or Slow Lanes? (Zoom)

With Mary Jo Broussard Speier, Esq., Elder Care Law Specialist

One of the tasks many of us put off is developing a plan for how our beneficiaries will receive the assets we want bequeathed to them.  One major reason is we may not want to dwell on our own demise and how our loved ones will fare without us.  But not planning and/or not setting up the proper mechanisms may result in a prolonged and expensive slog of legalities and unintended consequences for our beneficiaries.

A key area to be covered in this presentation is the concept of an asset highway.  Which “traffic lane” you choose for your asset will dictate how quickly, easily, and completely your heirs will be able to access bequeathed assets and with what level of state or federal interaction.

Even if you already have a finished will, attending this presentation may be a good way to validate the choices you have made or to suggest areas that you may want to address to solidify your asset choices.
