The Matinee Movie Group meets monthly usually at 2 pm or abouts depending on available movies that the Group might like to see. Movies are at local theaters, especially at AMC Montgomery Mall and Landmark in Bethesda. Group members will be notified of movie selection around 10 days prior to movie.

This month’s movie is Anora. Anora is a 2024 American romantic comedy-drama film written, directed, and edited by Sean Baker. It follows the beleaguered marriage of Brooklyn stripper Anora and the son of a Russian oligarch.

Anora premiered on May 21, 2024, in competition at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d'Or, the first American film to do so since The Tree of Life in 2011

The movie starts at 1pm, but the group will meet at 12:45 for a chat beforehand in the theater lobby (AMC Montgomery Mall).
