Returning for an anniversary showing, this Oscar-winning movie based on an E. M. Forster novel presents a young, independent-minded Edwardian woman (played by Helena Bonham Carter), who is torn between her feelings for a free-spirited romantic (Julian Sands) she meets on vacation in Florence and the priggish intellectual (Daniel Day-Lewis) to whom she is engaged back home in England. This box office hit is a memorable romantic comedy. It also co-stars Maggie Smith, Denholm Elliott, Simon Callow, Judi Dench, Rupert Graves and Amanda Walker.
The movie was nominated for 8 Oscars in 1987, winning three: best Writing, Screenplay based on Material from another Medium; Best Art Direction-Set Direction, and Best Costume Design. Hence, the movie is one for your eyes, ears, and mind to savor.
Easy, free parking spaces should be available on the streets around the theater. Those attending are invited to gather in the lobby shortly before the movie and, if interested, join in a post-discussion review/critique/lunch in a nearby café after the movie.
