Especially for those who did not see Laurie Anderson’s recent “The Weather” exhibition at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, we will review what was the largest-ever US exhibition of artwork by this groundbreaking multimedia artist, performer, musician, and writer. The exhibit debuted more than a dozen new artworks, interspersed with select key works from Anderson’s five-decade career.

The exhibition was a multimedia barrage, containing dark galleries with immersive light and sound installations, which allowed Anderson to explore her reaction to the world around her.

Anderson is a Grammy Award-winning musician, writer, and artist with an international reputation for avant-garde and popular culture. Her visual pieces have been shown at the Guggenheim Museum and extensively in Europe, including the Centre George Pompidou in Paris. Her song, O Superman rose to No. 2 on the British pop charts in 1981. She is currently the Charles Eliot Norton Professor of Poetry at Harvard University.
