Join with NBV neighbors on a guided walking tour of the Red Wiggler Community Farm in Germantown/Clarksburg, MD. Red Wiggler is a certified organic, sustainable Care Farm where people with and without developmental disabilities come together to work, learn, and grow healthy food.
Our tour is scheduled for Friday, September 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. and is expected to last 45-60 minutes. We will be welcomed “under the tree” near the parking area and, after an introduction to the Farm and its mission, vision, and operations, we will have the opportunity to walk through the fields to view the produce, flowers, and herbs up close. Our visit will include:
A complete tour of the farm, including the fields, greenhouse, beehives, and solar house.
Discussion of the Red Wiggler mission, programs, sustainable farming practices, and environmental stewardship.
For more information about Red Wiggler Community Farm, please follow this link: https://redwiggler.org.
The tour is appropriate for both those who are comfortable walking on uneven ground and those whose walking is limited.
IF YOU ARE A WALKER: closed-toed shoes are recommended, and it’s suggested that you wear a hat if it's a sunny day. You will be walking a total of approx. one mile on grassy trails.
IF WALKING IS A BIT OF A CHALLENGE: you still will have plenty of opportunity to learn about the farm and will have time with staff and volunteers, so don’t be afraid to attend just because you can’t fully participate in the more active part of the tour.
The fee for the farm tour is $7.50.
