Art Discussion Group (Davis Library, Lower Level)

Last month we discussed several buildings designed by Gaudi, so it is only fitting that we discuss examples of Frank Lloyd Wright's designs. They both worked during (and after) the Art Nouveau period, and it will be interesting to discuss the similarities and differences in their designs.  The discussion will start with a summary of Wright's early life and philosophy.  Then, we will focus on several of his designs, including his first house and studio, the Robie House, and the house he designed for his son and daughter-in-law. We anticipate a lively discussion because most of us have seen Wright's designs in person and/or read about him.

If you would like the group to discuss one of Wright's buildings or houses not mentioned above, please send Beth the name of the building and she will try to include images in the PowerPoint.

Below are links to two videos produced by Architectural Digest and a link to the Wright Foundation.  It is not necessary to view the videos or read the information on the Foundation's website to participate in the discussion.
